From Research to Practice: The Role of Somatosensory Function in Children and Adolescents with Central Nervous System Lesions
Somatosensory function encompasses more than just light touch perception. In her PhD thesis, Petra investigated how the somatosensory function of the lower limbs in children with central nervous system lesions can be assessed. She will summarize the key findings of her thesis, provide an outlook on the importance of somatosensory function for motor function and motor learning, and illustrate through a case report how this knowledge can be applied in clinical practice. Finally, she will share the next steps of her ongoing research, with time for discussion and exchange.
